Spartan announces the launch of the MMCAP Canadian Fund

Toronto, Ontario – May 2, 2016 – Spartan Fund Management is pleased to announce the newest addition to Spartan’s alternative strategies fund line-up: the MMCAP Canadian Fund ("MMCAP Canadian").

MMCAP Canadian is a feeder fund for the MMCAP Fund ("MMCAP"), a Cayman-based fund that utilizes investment strategies based on corporate events, such as merger arbitrage, convertible arbitrage, warrant arbitrage, capital structure arbitrage, event driven/special situations, private investments and pairs trading in Canada and the US.

The investment team that manages the MMCAP portfolio has been trading these strategies since 2002 and has earned a cumulative return of 1,166% (20.41% per annum), with risk levels that are comparable to the market indices (the S&P 500 and S&P TSX Composite).

MMCAP Canadian is denominated in both C$ and US$, is RSP-eligible and is available through most securities dealers in Canada as well as directly through Spartan. MMCAP Canadian is available in both Class A and Class F units, as well as a limited number of Class X founders units.
