TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2014 /CNW/ - Bull Wealth Management Group Inc. ("BULLWEALTH") announced today that it has acquired the assets of KCS Fund Strategies Inc ("KCS"). KCS is a Vancouver based, leader in Canadian hedge fund and alternative investments due diligence. The assets include KCS's proprietary research database, twelve proprietary hedge fund indices, their research reports and algorithms, and a platform to build institutional quality alternative portfolios. In addition, KCS's founder and principal, Peter Klein, will join BULLWEALTH as a Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. "I'm thrilled to be joining forces with the BULLWEALTH team to help BULLWEALTH successfully implement non-correlated investment strategies into their client portfolios," commented Klein.

BULLWEALTH's President and CEO Martin Sims, commented that "this acquisition takes us to a leadership position in hedge fund and alternative investments research in Canada, and complements our industry leading research of long only managers. The KCS assets, and the addition of someone with Peter's academic credentials and reputation, strengthen our proposition immensely and will help us accelerate our growth as Canada's preeminent, independent advisory firm." Klein is a tenured professor of finance at The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and one of Canada's top hedge fund authorities.

BULLWEALTH provides clear, independent advice to high net worth families, not-for-profit organizations and institutions. The firm was established in 2000 by former Ernst & Young partner James Bull. Jim sold the business in 2007 to EFG Bank AG of Switzerland and then led a management buy back of the company in 2013 with Sims and Cathmark Investments Inc. through their holding company MRKED Capital Inc.

MRKED Capital Inc. is a Canadian Controlled Private Corporation owned by the principals and partners of BULLWEALTH. The firm currently has in excess of $1.8B in assets under advisement. Bull, who remains with the firm as Vice Chair and Managing Partner commented that, "the addition of Peter's expertise and the KCS research resources significantly strengthens our tradition of researching independent, third party investment management solutions and solidifies BULLWEALTH's position as Canada's leading "Manager of Managers."

Industry veteran Julian Smith has also joined the firm as Managing Partner, Chief Compliance Officer and Director.
