Spartan is pleased to announce the launch of the qmetrica fund
Toronto, Ontario – December 1, 2014 – Spartan is pleased to introduce a new fund to our line-up: the qmetrica fund, a quantitative, non-discretionary long-short equity strategy that focuses on large-cap North American equities.
qmetrica is based on the belief that a variety of factors (human nature,
algorithmic trading, year-end tax strategies, etc.) give rise to price patterns
that can be identified and profitably exploited. The Fund
utilizes proprietary statistical algorithms that are constantly searching to
identify trading patterns, whatever the origin.
The Fund is managed by Spartan Fund Management Inc. The qmetrica research
team is headed by Ivan Medovikov, PhD (Western), an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Economics at Brock
University in Ontario.
Trading live
The underlying models have been trading live with private capital since the
middle of 2012. The Fund itself was established in mid-2014 and has been trading
its current strategy mix since June 2014. Since
inception, qmetrica has outperformed an equally-weighted TSX and S&P 500 index
(+10.87% est. vs. +4.23%) with substantially less daily volatility (6.72% vs.
12.10%) and significantly smaller daily
drawdowns (2.11% vs. 11.42%). Past performance may not be indicative of future
results.
Availability
The Fund is denominated in US$ and is currently only available directly from
Spartan. A limited number of qmetrica’s Founders Class shares, which have no
performance fee, are still available.
