Hedge fund manager appoints two co-CEOs

Calgary-based hedge fund manager Ross Smith Asset Management Wednesday announce the appointment of both Joseph Perry and Chris Preston as co-CEOs.

Perry is a 19-year veteran of the securities industry, starting with Montgomery Securities in San Francisco in 1994. In 1998, Perry founded and was the managing member of Speed Trading Partners LLC, a proprietary trading firm and a member of the Chicago Stock Exchange. In 2001, he founded, and was the managing ,ember of RedSky Financial LLC, a FINRA broker dealer that focused on providing trading technology to hedge funds, proprietary trading groups, and professional traders. In 2007, Perry oversaw the sale of RedSky Financial LLC to Investment Technology Group (ITG).

Preston spent six years with S.A.C. Capital, serving on the team that developed its first electronic trading platform. He has also led the build out of several high frequency trading systems across various asset classes and markets.
