Hedge Funds Care Canada Gala

"Hedge Funds Care continues to make strides in raising both money and awareness to this very important cause," said Hedge Funds Care Canada President and Director Corey Goldman. "The dollars raised this year will have a significant impact in continuing to fight the scourge of child abuse in this country."

All of the funds raised through the Hedge Funds Care Gala are distributed through grants to local, community-based organizations devoted to preventing child abuse. This is accomplished through education, prevention, intervention, research, advocacy and training programs.

Event Co-Chairs June-Anne Reid, Claire Van Wyk and Paul Patterson acknowledged the hedge fund community’s "overwhelming response to the gala and the cause it supports." They also expressed gratitude for the generous support of the Committee of Hearts as well as the Gala sponsors including: Sprott Asset Management; Scotia Capital; CIBC World Markets; Citco Fund Services; Polar Securities; Picton Mahoney; First Asset and many others.

Toronto-based investment management firm Arrow Capital Management was awarded this year’s "Award for Caring," a prestigious award granted to firms that demonstrate particularly strong support for the organization and its important cause.

Hedge Funds Care Canada was established in 2004 as a way for the Canadian hedge fund community to give back to organizations that provide prevention services to children and families who are at risk of abuse and/or neglect, and treatment to children who have been victims of abuse. 2

Hedge Funds Care Canada is part of a global alliance that began 15 years ago in New York and has grown into an international nonprofit organization. It has branches in 11 major cities in Canada, the United States, the Cayman Islands, and the United Kingdom, and funds more than 100 community organizations worldwide and distributes approximately $3.8 million annually. Hedge Funds Care Canada alone has granted over $1,116,000 through 40 grants since its inception.
