A hedge fund sponsored by Vision Capital Advisors has
attained $32.84 million, according to an amended SEC filing.
Definitive Guardian Partners, LP debuted in May of 2009 with
$12.75 million, under the name Vision Guardian Partners, LP. The investment has
attracted 19 investors.
Vision capital is based in New York, while the investment fund is located in
Radnor, Pa.
The sole individual named in the filing is Andrew Lutz, a
managing director and portfolio manager at Vision Capital. Prior to joining
Vision, Mr. Lutz managed fixed income strategies at Susquehanna International
Group, LLP. Prior to Susquehanna, Lutz was an actuarial consultant for both
Hewitt Associates and Aon Corporation.
Vision Capital was co-founded by Adam Benowitz, chief
investment officer, in 2005. Previously, he was the head trader for Rose Glen
Capital and spent ten years in senior trading and portfolio management roles at
Apex Capital Management, Susquehanna Investment Group, The American Stock
Exchange, RMS Associates, and Legg Mason Wood Walker.
Benowitz and co-founder Randolph Cohen named the company Vision because Benowitz is blind in one eye and Cohen has a degenerative eye disease. The firm reports $700 million of assets under management.
Reuters reported in September that Vision Capital is under investigation by
the SEC, going back to activities in 2005, but the specific issues were not
identified.
New York-based Ounavarra Capital LLC has handled the offering's
solicitation, evidently restricted to Florida.
