Leeward Hedge Funds seeks SEC OK

Leeward Hedge Funds Inc., the manager of three hedge funds that are sold on a private placement basis to investors in both Canada and offshore, has applied for registration with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission -- a step it believes is the first by a Canadian hedge fund manager. "We have registered the managers and the firm will become an SEC-registered advisor," said Robert Lendvai, the firm's managing director, adding the firm chose to register in the United States because it has a large number of U.S. investors.
