Sprott Asset Management LP has appointed John Ciampaglia to the position of chief operating officer, parent company Sprott Inc. (TSX:SII) announced Monday.

Ciampaglia has 17 years of experience in the investment industry. Most recently he was a senior executive at Invesco Trimark. He was an active member of that firm’s executive committee and held the position of senior vice president, product development. Ciampaglia was responsible for overseeing the product development function across multiple product lines and distribution channels.

Prior to joining Invesco Trimark, Ciampaglia spent more than four years at TD Asset Management, where he held progressively senior product management and research roles.

“As we work to diversify and expand our product line-up, one of our key priorities is to concurrently maintain and improve upon our robust operational platform,” said James Fox, president of Sprott Asset Management.

“We think John will be a significant contributor to the growth and evolution of Sprott Asset Management and we are extremely pleased to welcome him to our executive team,” Fox added.

Ciampaglia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from York University, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute.
