Ticonderoga Securities has launched an exchange traded funds (ETF) desk run by William Bauer. The desk will specialise in market making capabilities for institutional investors moving in and out of ETFs.

The team will advise clients on portfolio trading issues, provide analysis and strategy and assist in order execution.

Bauer joins Ticonderoga, an institutional broker dealer, with over 18 years of institutional equity and derivative sales and trading experience, with five years focused on ETFs.

“Hedge funds and money managers are increasingly embracing ETFs as a superior product with greater transparency and liquidity,” said Bauer.

The ETF group will further diversify Ticonderoga’s product offering which was recently expanded to include a risk arbitrage desk, as well as coverage of the brokerage, asset management, exchanges and homebuilding and building products sectors.

In May 2009 Ticonderoga Securities was acquired Reynders, Gray & Co. Ticonderoga Securities operates a dual capability with a New York Stock Exchange floor based team providing direct access as well as desk based models.
