Leaders of Canada's hedge fund industry and their guests will gather
November 4 for the sixth annual Open Your Hearts to the Children Gala,
a special fundraising evening organized by Hedge Funds Care Canada. The
event will be held at the at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
Corey
Goldman, Hedge Funds Care Canada president and director, says that all
proceeds from the event will go to support local and national
foundations that support the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
To date, he notes, Hedge Funds Care Canada has raised more than
$650,000 in support of this worthwhile cause.
“At this year’s
event we plan to recognize the Child Development Institute, an
important Hedge Funds Care Canada grant recipient, which is celebrating
its 100th year of outstanding service to Canada's children,” Goldman
says.
“We also plan to present a special award to Sprott Asset
Management in appreciation of their role as Hedge Funds Care Canada's
lead supporter and largest donor.”
“The response to the gala and
the cause it supports has been overwhelming, which is particularly
important in these challenging times,” says Meghan MacNicol, who is
serving as chair of this year's event.
“It's gratifying to be
able to help fund this year's grant recipients who will include: Sprott
Asset Management, Scotia Capital, MAN Investments, Polar Securities,
Marret Asset Management, Mapleridge Capital, Hillsdale Capital, and
others outside of Canada, including HSBC,” MacNicol says.
