Scotia Capital beefed up its institutional equity desk Friday, taking advantage of a changing of the guard at Research Capital.
The investment banking arm of Bank of Nova Scotia welcomed Jerrold Annett to its sales desk. He focuses on the mining companies, and Scotia Capital wants to expand its coverage in the sector. Veteran trader Russell Starr is also coming over, and Scotia Capital has made a priority of putting more resources into trading with hedge funds, which is his expertise.
Both are leaving Research Capital after the employee-owned firm welcomed a number of new partners, including an influx of talent from Desjardins Securities. These moves were first reported on the Bill's Buzz blog run by executive search firm Vlaad and Co.
