New partner promotions reinforce Appleby\'s global funds practice

Bermuda-based offshore law firm Appleby has announced the promotion of seven lawyers to partnership, including three active in the funds practice, capping a year in which the firm added 46 new lawyers, including three lateral partners.

'We are very pleased to be able to reflect the strong growth of our global business with the promotion of new partners in four of our offices,' says global managing partner Peter Bubenzer. 'Our success is defined by our people and these partners represent the future leadership of the firm.'

Appleby's new partners include Sally Cox, local practice group head of property in the British Virgin Islands. Cox has been practising corporate law for over a decade, including banking and asset finance, ship and aircraft financing, mergers and acquisitions, securitisations, funds and investment services, property transactions, trusts and estate planning, intellectual property and insurance.

Valerie Georges-Thomas practises corporate and commercial law in the BVI, specialising in advising on the formation of investment funds. She also has experience in banking and finance and advises on general lending, debt issuance, property finance transactions and general aspects of litigation.

Sabrina Leacock practises in both the corporate and commercial and trust practice groups in the Cayman Islands. Sabrina has more than 10 years of experience and works primarily in the areas of mutual funds, unit trusts and private non-contentious trusts.
