Frontier emerging markets specialist Exotix has picked out Bosnia as a key source of opportunities this year for institutional and retail investors.
The firm's chief economist, Stuart Culverhouse, told Thomson Investment Management News: 'We're very keen on Bosnia at the moment.' He said that last year there was an apparent risk that the market would be affected by the 'Serbian/Kosovo contagion affect; but we feel that was overdone.'
Amid the uncertainty though, Culverhouse notes that historically there have been 'incredible returns' on restructured Serbian and Bosnian debt.
Exotix' investors include fund managers and hedge fund managers; institutional investors; long only managers; and emerging market specialists. All those investors are 'looking further along the credit spectrum because of the risk return trade offs,' he said.
