Sean Taylor, investment director at fund of funds provider GAM, seemed quite pleased about his forthcoming move to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when he told attendees about it at Harcourt's quarterly breakfast meeting on Nov. 7. Mr. Taylor will be relocating at the beginning of 2008 in order to be "closer to the action." From Dubai he will manage GAM's recently launched GAM Frontier Opportunities Equity Hedge, which has so far raised $90 million
GAM had 93.5 billion Swiss francs ($82.9 billion) under management at the end of June this year. GAM Frontier Opportunities, which will invest in equities quoted on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) exchanges and possibly equities quoted in the ex-Soviet states, is the firm's first fund to focus largely the Gulf.
