B of A Hires Hedge Honcho

Bank of America's alternatives arm has hired a new director of hedge fund investments.

Spencer Boggess will oversee portfolio management, research, performance reporting, database management and standards review for hedge funds at B of A's Global Wealth & Investment Management (GWIM) Alternative Investments group. The group provides alternative investments for endowments, foundations, pension funds and high net worth clients. It currently oversees about $6 billion in assets.

Boggess was previously chief executive officer of U.S. Trust Hedge Fund Management. He is also portfolio manager for an Excelsior fund-of-funds.

GWIM announced a number of other new hires as well, including James Bowden as director of private equity investments, Kathie Andrade as network executive of alternative investments, Kristina McDonough and Suzanne Sack as channel directors and Steven Suss as chief administrative officer for hedge fund and private equity investments.

Currently GWIM employs 68 people. David Bailin heads the GWIM Alternative Investments group.
