The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association® today announced two new appointments that will help strengthen and increase the organization’s ability to service its growing worldwide membership, naming Heather Kane as director of global events, a newly-created position, and Maia Porter as director of member services, succeeding Jennifer Marcoullier.
“A key part of the CAIA Association’s growth since inception has been our ability to give our members the type of services, events and materials they need to take full advantage of the programs we’ve developed,” said Craig Asche, executive director of the CAIA Association. “As the number of Association members and enrolled candidates has increased, we have grown the CAIAA team to now include Heather and Maia. Both will help us accomplish our goal of providing the superb member outreach and quality networking and education events that our members have come to expect.”
As director of global events, Ms. Kane will be responsible for targeting and expanding the Association’s informational events for potential candidates in financial centers across the globe. She will also be coordinating with CAIA chapters in New York, Toronto, London, Switzerland and Singapore to hold Association events and receptions, including its signature membership event in 2007 – an educational seminar featuring Mark Anson (exclusively open to members and current candidates). Ms. Kane also acts as the liaison for industry organizations with which the CAIA Association partners to hold educational and informational events and conferences.
In her role as director of member services, Ms. Porter will serve as a liaison for all members and work to add additional member benefits and programs, help to establish new chapters around the world and maintain and grow the online CAIASM member community.
“My background with non-profit organizations and in education provides me with a solid base upon which to build my role at the CAIA Association,” Ms. Kane said. “I’m excited about taking over responsibility for planning events that are useful and informative to our potential candidates, all while educating as many people as possible on the value of the CAIA designation.”
“The backbone of the CAIA Association is its members, and we’re dedicated to providing them with the best information and benefits possible,” said Ms. Porter. “We expect 2007 to be another year of significant growth, and our top priority is ensuring that we take care of our global membership.”
Previously at the CAIA Association, Ms. Kane was responsible for supporting member events and organizing additional member outreach. Before joining the CAIA Association, Kane served as the clinical coordinator for the Simmons College Nursing Department. She is a graduate of Wheaton College (Mass.).
A former business owner with a background in arts and academic administration, Ms. Porter previously served as a staff member at Harvard College. She is a graduate of Smith College.
