HONG KONG (HedgeWorld.com)—With an aim of honoring creative writing of the sort not found in forward statements, the new Man Asian Literary Prize opened for entries today.

Aiming to highlight Asia's increasing contribution to world literature, the Man Asian Literary Prize, sponsored by the Hong Kong International Literary Festival Ltd. and Man Group plc, seeks to bring attention to new Asia-based writers who have not published in English before.

Submissions in English will be accepted electronically from Nov. 1, 2006, to March 31, 2007, with the prize awarded in the autumn of 2007. The winning author will receive worldwide recognition and a prize of $10,000. An additional prize of $3,000 may be awarded if there is a translator involved.

More information is available at www.manasianliteraryprize.org.

Separately, the Asian-spawned charity formed by hedge fund professionals Returns Invested in Children and Education, or RICE, is hosting its first fundraiser in Hong Kong on Nov. 29. The Christmas fundraiser will be held at club M1NT and corporate sponsors are asked to donate $5,000 for 10 tickets. All money raised goes to the RICE fund.
