AIMA Announced New Global Council

LONDON (HedgeWorld.com)—The Alternative Investment Management Association named the members of its council, the body responsible for global strategy, just elected or reelected for their two-year term.

Christopher Fawcett, the chairman of the council last term, will continue to serve as acting chairman—and Dermot Butler will continue to serve as acting deputy chairman—until this council votes to fill those posts. Also, AIMA said in its statement Thursday [Oct. 26] that it might fill other positions by appointment or co-optation.

Mr. Fawcett, a cofounder, chief executive, and chief investment officer of Fauchier Partners Ltd., was reelected and so will continue to represent the United Kingdom. Mr. Butler, founder and chairman of Custom House Administration & Corporate Services, was likewise reelected as the council's representative for Ireland Previous HedgeWorld Story.

Besides Messrs. Fawcett and Butler, the AIMA global council members and their countries or regions are: Kim Ivey of Vertex Capital Management Ltd., Australia; Sohail Jaffer, Premium Select Lux. S.A., Benelux; Phil Schmitt, Summerwood Capital Corp., Canada; Andy Stepaniuk, KPMG, Cayman Islands; Jean-François Vert, AGF Alternative Asset Management, France; Christophe Lee, SHK Fund Management Ltd., Hong Kong/China; Massimo Maurelli, Capitalgest Alternative Investments SGR SPA, Italy; Klaus Jäntti, Brummer & Partners, Scandinavia; Peter Douglas, GFIA Pte., Ltd., Singapore; Ian Hamilton, IDS Alternative Fund Services (Pty) Ltd., South Africa; Pierre-Yves Moix, RMF Investment Management, Switzerland; Neil Brown, Citigroup Alternative Investments Inc., United States.

Florence Lombard, executive director of AIMA, is a permanent member of the council. General counsel is Iain Cullen of Simmons & Simmons. Mary Richardson, company secretary, is also the director of AIMA's regulatory department.
